COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
(CERT)

When disaster strikes, civil society is often first in line, to offer a hand up. Community Emergency Response Team training enhances the capacity of civil society to provide immediate disaster assistance,  bridging the critical gap between time of disaster, and arrival of emergency services.

Community Emergency Response Team training offers a SAFE neighbours helping neighbours response. CERT is a grass-roots strategy that is both practical and realistic; strengthening community safety and preparedness, through increased civic participation.

Today, the intensity and frequency of disasters is making preparedness and training of local communities, necessary to provide security, until the first responders arrive on the scene.

FAITH EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INITIATIVE
(FEPI)

Building a bridge of love to a community can take many forms and as with any bridge design, the architecture can be quite varied.  Emergency Preparedness is an opportunity for the local church to reflect Christ's love, ready to care for the community, during times of disaster or due to any emergency one might face.

Follower's of Jesus Christ have been given the double mandate of both loving God and our neighbor. Bridges of Love's Faith Emergency Preparedness Initiative (FEPI) provides opportunities, for the local church to fulfill His Commandment

CERT Canada Summit 2023

Bridges of Love CERT Summit, a ministrial emergency preparedness conference meeting

February 11, 2023 Bridges of Love completed its first CERT Canada Summit in its High River CERT Headquarters.  CERT is intended for anyone over the age of 18 years of age.  Disasters do not prefer any age group, race, religion, socioeconomic class, or position.  We are all vulnerable when an overwhelming, catastrophic event strikes our region. We were pleased to welcome attendees from Edmonton, Strathmore, Lyalta, Calgary, and High River.  It was great to have representatives from such diverse communities!
Our instructors for the various modules were top-notch and professionals within their disciplines.  They brought experience, expertise, and stories along with their education and training.  We appreciate each one who volunteered their time and shared with passion and commitment.

The Friday evening key-note speaker, Leann Hackman-Carty, CEO Alberta Economic Development, affirmed CERT as a valuable sector to align with first responders, standing in the gap until the professionals arrive on the scene.
